20/21 Season

The Covid-19 Pandemic continues to be a challenge for everyone, especially our bowling centers and bowling community.  The centers are doing everything they can to adhere to the requirement to stay open and allow leagues to continue play.  The number of bowlers and leagues have declined due to the health concerns, and like other businesses, the center hours are restricted.  Let's hope that soon, some normalcy will return.

In the meantime, let's be a part of the solution and wear masks, social distance, follow the suggested guidelines.  Be sure to visit bowl.com for the latest information about our sport and upcoming events.

Equipment Rule Changes starting Aug. 1

The rule eliminating balance holes in bowling balls takes effect Aug. 1, the start of the 2020-2021 bowling season. The rule states all holes in a bowling ball must be used on every delivery; any hole not used is considered a balance hole, making the ball illegal.  Bowlers may have up to five holes for gripping purposes, and all must be used on every delivery.

Bowlers who do not use their thumb no longer can have a thumb hole, as it now is considered a balance hole. No-thumb bowlers would need to mark a plus (+) sign using a scribe, engraver or tool, near the intended center of palm during delivery.

For balls over 10 pounds, allowable static weights will be three ounces of side, thumb or finger weight.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our annual open meeting in July 2020 for the 2019/20 season was not held out of an abundance of caution.  It is our intention to hold a 2020/21 annual meeting and we will be looking into ways to do it safely.  We will announce the meeting information as soon as available.
